Hi Simon,
Great to have you on board and I am really looking forward to working with you. I don’t require individual lighting effects for each song, I just need a cabaret set up:
key light for singer
follow spot for choreography when needed
soft light backdrop which can slightly raise and fall with applause at the end of each song.
I am looking forward to the tech on 14th September and I am sure we are on for a great show.

Subject: Lighting/Sound

Hi guys

Simon Waller came along, last night, to familiarise himself with the lighting equipment. Andrew Ward advised him and will probably assist with the Tech/Dress rehearsals.

As well as the play's requirements, Jane and I discussed the lighting effects for our songs (she - moonlight, me - hot sunshine). Contact Simon re the lighting effects required for each of the other songs.

His contact details are:    01932 703338/07849 757167    waller_as@yahoo.co.uk

Please let me have the contact details for Ian (Sound).

Also, I'd like a list of songs and their singers, for the programme.

Many thanks

Graham

Jakki Pond-Grainger

Jakki Pond-Grainger contacted me today and discussed her involvement in supplying a Pierrot and a Fosse dancer. I have recorded the music on CD for her and emailed her the recordings as well.

We look forward to seeing her at the Tech on the 14th September.

Mad about the boy

Yesterday I rehearsed with Diane and both her songs are up to performance standard.

Reem and Betty

We all met this evening and have planned each of the songs with relevant movement to music.

Act 2 choreography

Sarah Mullins has now pulled out of helping with choreography leaving Reem alone. Reem rang me with her worries and we have reverted to plan A whereby she and I work together on it. We are meeting this evening at Betty’s to workshop ideas.

Diane

Diane is now singing two songs and is opening the show with 'Mad about the boy'.

Mad about the boy

Sarah Mullins has resigned from singing in Act 2.

Mrs. Worthington

Danny and Betty have just come and rehearsed this song which works perfectly. Danny is now away until the Wednesday before show. On 21st August, Bob will run it with Betty and a stand in. We will try and squeeze in another run through with Danny before opening night but I am relaxed about this.

Radio mics

Tony Bushell is supplying four Transtec stick mics for the show. We have used them before and they are 863 - 865 MHz.  These legal mics are of the right dynamic range for singing.

Reem's CD

I have just delivered a show music CD to Reem.

Reem's CD

I have emailed Reem and asked where to drop a CD off for her.

I'll follow my secret heart

I have delivered a CD of the music to Annie.

Music and words

I have made one .pdf file up to include all the narration and music in order. I have posted it on the spreadsheet.

London pride

I have recorded this and posted it on the spreadsheet

Mad dogs and Englishmen

I have re-written the sheet music and transposed in C.

Mad dogs and Englishmen correction

This has now been transposed to the key of C and posted on the spread sheet.

Narration

The script for narration is now complete and available for reading on the spread sheet.

I'll follow my secret heart

I also met with Annie yesterday evening and run through her song. This is another waltz and we are performing it as a slightly quicker Old Time Waltz rhythm. We have souped up the ending a bit and I am confident it will sound fresh. Annie has asked for a CD which I will record and post to her.

Some day I'll find you

I met with Diane yesterday evening and she sings this song beautifully. We are performing it as a jazz waltz. I will record it for her and place it on the spread sheet – as per her request.

Mad dogs and Englishmen

I have added a turn around between chorus 1 and verse 2. I have also deleted the final chorus. The recording is available on the spreadsheet.

Annie and Diane

I am rehearsing with Annie and Diane Wednesday evening and this will complete the blocking of songs for Act 2.

20th Century Blues and Sail Away

I have rehearsed with Lisa and Tom this evening and I am confident their songs will go well.

Mrs Worthington

Just spoke with Betty and she is confident she can make Bob Day look like a girl – with a costume and blonde wig etc.

Mad about the boy

I have recorded a single note melody of bars 38 to 41 for Sarah Mullins to rehearse to. I sent it by email.

Lisa and Tom

I have arranged for Lisa and Tom to visit this evening at 7pm to run their songs.

Poor little rich girl

Reduced ending to two bars instead of four.
